Length of Project: This job and candidates in this position are to work without an end date. The client will traditionally convert temporary employees working through Cabildo Staffing to direct hires after an average of 90 days.

Work Locations: Candidates should be available for projects in ALL of these locations (Covington, Gonzales, Marrero, New Orleans and Reserve)

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Pipelayer is responsible for laying and joining concrete, plastic, or cast iron pipe for drains, sewers, and water mains. This includes rigging pipe for hoisting, setting pipe to grade and affixing the pipe joint. Also responsible for preparing and grading the trenches either manually or by communicating with onsite equipment operators. This position requires manual labor as well as assisting other trades to the extent necessary with hands on work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Basic experience with power equipment, including powder actuated tools, saws, drills, chippers, and grinders
• Work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
• Able to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under
• adverse field conditions
• Basic knowledge of heavy construction, specifically pipelaying
• Able to communicate orally and in writing
• Knowledge of the proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work
• Knowledge of safety precautions
• Understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
• Meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Able to accomplish goals in a team environment
• Attention to detail
• Excellent sense of balance
• Hand, eye and foot coordination
